"PHOTO # 7 BROOKE GLASS VERSION OF THE OWL CANDLELITE."

In 1979 Westmoreland produced the #110 Owl Candlelite. This consisted of an owl shaped shade that was inserted into a metal base. The colors that were made included crystal mist, yellow, ruby mist and amber mist. Brooke Glass now has this mold. Instead of paring this shade with a metal base they have chosen a glass base. The quality of this crystal piece appears better than that of the ruby examples, but pay close attention to the top of the owl's head where it has been ground. I had to look through several before I found one without chips. This owl candlelite retails for $11.95 at Brooke.

"PHOTO # 8 BROOKE GLASS TULIP VOTIVE LITE."

Also in the 1979 catalog, Westmoreland produced a Line #517 Tulip Votive Lite. Westmoreland made these in yellow, blue, crystal, blue mist and ruby. Brooke Glass has also found this mold and is producing it in many colors. The one pictured is in pink mist. Again, the quality is not up to Westmoreland standards. The votive pictured has a number of bubbles in it. This votive retails for $2.35 at Brooke.

"THE ENGLISH HOBNAIL HEXAGONAL CREAM AND SUGAR ARE NOW BEING REPRODUCED BY BROOKE GLASS. THESE BOTH CONTAIN THE CIRCULAR WESTMORELAND MARK."

"THE ENGLISH HOBNAIL OVAL PICKLE DISH IS NOW BEING REPRODUCED BY BROOKE GLASS. THE REPRODUCTION WILL HAVE THE "WG" MARK."

I asked the kind lady in the Brooke gift shop just how many molds they owned from the Westmoreland factory. She pointed out they also owned the English Hobnail hexagonal creamer and sugar (EH-26 &27) as well as the oval pickle disk (EH-63). These pieces were of such poor quality that I couldn't bring myself to buy them. The creamer and sugar had the circular Westmoreland mark, while the pickle dish had a "WG" mark.

"BROOKE GLASS IS NOW REPRODUCING THIS CAMEO CANDY WITH LID IN RUBY. BROOKE'S RUBY IS MORE OF AN AMBERINA."

As we checked out, I noticed the Line #753 Cameo candy and lid on a shelf. The gift shop lady said that this wasn't a Westmoreland mold, but it did have a WG mark on the outer ring of the base. The lid was unmarked. This candy was in an amberina (another attempt at ruby!) I asked if any decorating was done on this candy. She said that any decoration could be done, but they did not routinely place any decorations on this Cameo candy.

If any collectors are passing through the Wheeling, West Virginia area, Brooke Glass is just a bit north. It makes a worthwhile trip. Brook Glass is located at 130-6th Street in Wellsburg, West Virginia (26070). They do have a factory tour at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. We didn't have time to take the tour, but I am sure it would have been interesting.
